I know the mini input side of this is male.  What is the output side?

I'm looking at a defective one of these (Samson PM4 Phantom Microphone Adapter) right now.  Output is male.

So both ends are male correct?

Both ends are male.  Input is mini xlr and output is standars xlr.

it would be whatever fits on the mic-in of a pre, so male it is

Cool...just wanted to make sure since the input seemed backwards.  Out from mics is normally male but the input on the adapters is male also.
