Title: Stupid Question
Post by: Cobiwan on March 11, 2014, 01:21:12 PM
After looking around in getting started section, etc I still haven't found an answer. What do the yellow "boxes" that appear under a profile name/trade count/status mean? I know, dumb question and probably not relevant here.
Thanks!

It has to do with your post count, I believe. Mine disappeared when I became a site supporter, though.

0 = New User (No block)
1-49 = Newbie (1 block)
50-249 = Regular (2 blocks)
250-999 = Member (3 blocks)
1000-1999 = All Star (4 blocks)
>2000 = Needs to get out more (5 blocks)

Not that this is relevant to your question, but I think maybe six or seven years or more ago, there was a method of feedback we generically called karma.  Peoples running karma count total was tracked and it was reported in that same area where those yellow boxes are.  People could arbitrarily and randomly give others positive or negative karma.  The leftover vernacular from those days is a sorta code language in which someone will respond to a post that they like or dislike by saying '+t' 'plus t' '-t' etc.

The karma system was eliminated I think because it ended up being more of an indication of one's popularity or unpopularity with others than anything else.  I think that's about the same time as the yard sale feedback system was implemented.
