Forgive my ignorance on this.
Our portable mixer/recorder takes a floating 5-18v from an external power pack. I am looking at using NiMh RC packs, but here's the bit I don't quite get. The shop sells various capacities and various voltages, but the best fit in size and weight is a 9.6v @ 2500mAh (that's 8 x 2500mAh AA's)
The mixer takes 4 x 2700mAh AA NiMh internally and I get 4 hours of up time. So that's 4 hours from a 4.8v @ 2700mAh source.
The way I see it is that at 9.6v the mixer will demand less current than at 4.8v, so the 9.6 pack should last longer.....
Perhaps should mention mixer is SD552 and it has to all fit in a Petrol bag. I know the usual setup is an NP1 style battery, but they are horrendous prices once you add in the charger and cup.
You'll actually get less runtime with the 9.6v battery because it's got 200 mah less capacity than the other battery you specify.
So voltage doesn't really come into the run time equation I take it?
Last night I read through some past posts in Remote Power and I am leaning towards solutions from Anker, Naztech or RavPower. They all make a high capacity Li-on recharger unit with a 9 or 12v output. Taking into account the conversion loss from 3.7v to 9 or 12v, they all seem to have a good capacity.
If I bought one of these batteries and ran it at 9v, would that give better run time than 12v? The SD552 takes a wide voltage range.
One more question...the DC-DC cables that come with Anker, Naztech etc, are they twin core/screened or single core screened? I am going to want to put a Hirose on one end for the 552 and prefer to use original cable.
