Title: Where to find Calumet mic stands?
Post by: grider on April 06, 2004, 01:10:06 PM
saw a very nice black mic stand recently, in use at a show, looked around 13 feet in height when fully extended, had a manufacturer's sticker on one of the tripod legs that read "Calumet", anyone know a Calumet dealer or can oneone steer me to their website?  My yahoo search turned up nothing, thanks, Grider

I have probably the same stand you saw, but I bought it used.  Air-cushioned, 3 divisions, about 13 feet I think (although the person I bought it from claimed 18 - wrong!).  It's my understanding that they are actually made by Bogen/Manfrotto, so buying one of those is probably the same.

thanks,  that info helps, does yours have a Calumet sticker on it?  if so, does the sticker have any other manufacturers info on it?  and does your unit have the plastic connectors (between tube sections) of about 2 or 3 inches in length?  just verifying your stand is the same one I saw, thanks, Grider

Yeah that sounds like my stand.  The stand has very little information on it, no model # or anything, it was VERY frustrating when trying to describe it to daleproaudio when I was looking for a thread adapter for my vert bar.  It is a nice stand though.

+T for the link.  I googled the shit out of "calumet" last year when I bought my stand and came up empty.  Weird...

FWIW, the label on my stand says:

"Made in Italy for Calumet by Lino Manfrotto + Co."

Yeah, their air cushioned stands are really nice.  I had one I bought from Calumetphoto.com and it had both the Manfrotto and Calumer stickers on it.  The air cushioning rocks!!
