Is it better to remove the cover plate first, or no?

Maybe a butter knife would be better, as it has more leverage than tines do and a greater surface contact; thoughts?

I read its best to put a little water on the fork it so it slides in without getting hung up on the edges

It depends on whether your house is supplied by Edison or Westinghouse.

???  My house was supplied by our real estate agent...  Not sure who those guys you mentioned are...   :P
