Title: R-05 Repair? Mic Sleeve?
Post by: bombdiggity on May 20, 2014, 01:43:53 PM
So I found just as a show was starting that the left channel of my line-in input seems to be dropping out.  I'm assuming it is the sleeve in there (the mic-in works fine with the same mics/connector), though I do recall some thread about cleaning connectors.  I sort of doubt that will do it though.

Does anyone in these parts do that?

I'm sure it is well out of warranty.  It hasn't had a huge amount of use and has generally been well cared for.  I'm inclined to see about fixing it but in the meantime have ordered an M-10 (which I've sort of wanted to do anyway).  Having a solid backup/extra recorder seems useful though.

Since they were selling for $50-60 new recently, it could be hard to justify paying someone else to fix it if you don't have success doing it yourself.  And if Tascam starts blowing out DR100MkIIs now that they've been discontinued, you might want to spend your money there.

^ There is that, though they didn't do that here (I'd checked) and online they are where they were priced...
