I've got a Bogen 3333 (basic 9) stand but my TLs sway a bit too much for me up there. I probably wouldn't ever run higer than 9 feet. Just curious what other TL tapers are using?
I've been eyeballing one of these:

I use the 3333 as well. Never had any problems. I usually run it 7 to 8 feet.
edit* when the 3333 top slide all the way out the stand is shaky with any mics IMO. I usually only slide the top bar out 6 inches to a foot at the most.

Yea I usually don't extend the top riser more than 1 foot either.
Sandbags.....I know it is an excellent idea I just can't bring myself to carry more weight!!

dont know model, but a Bogen that goes up like 13'.
highest Ive ever run mine was about 8'.
I'm usually clamping to a support/cross-beam or running onstage

I have an Impact 13' that seems to be rock solid. It's never swayed or seemed unsteady, although I've only run it up to 11' or so. A taller stand should always be more steady than maxing out a shorter stand.

I have an AEA stand that I use most of the time, but I haven't noticed any problems running the 3333, so long as you don't extend the top riser all the way.

i use a bogen light stand that i saw on www.bhphotovideo.com site. it was only like $75 shipped, and it is beefy. held my tl's + six other small dia pairs without moving at all. ive run it 12' before with no problems.

i got the Bogen black stacker 13'. i've probably had the TL's only about 9' at the highest but it was pretty sturdy. we'll see how it goes this summer although i don't really anticipate going any higher than that....except for maybe DMB ;D
