Group,
I am looking for a shockmount for my mod'd Nak CM700's. They are 50 mm long and have a 17.5 mm diameter. I would prefer for the mounts to be smaller and lower profile. But I would be interested in larger ones as well for an open rig.
Thanks in advance!

Are you *sure* that they are just 17.5mm in diameter" as most microphones I know of are not smaller than 19mm.
Normally I would recommend the Rycote INV-3 (http://www.rycote.com/products/shock-mounts-suspension/invision-studio/invision-inv-3/) for your microphones - they say 19mm minimum, but as that grips, may work with a mic. a tad smaller.
Certainly worth a try.

Audix Micro clips: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/413714-REG/Audix_MC_MICRO_MC_MICRO_Microphone_Clip_with.html
These are what I used with my chopped 700's along with a vark bar and a single schoeps type shock mount.

Yeah. I measured them myself twice and had my wife do it a third time. I also tried them with my INV-7, which is also set for a 19mm minimum. They did not fit, so I am not very optimistic about the INV-3.

18mm in the center. You might be able to gaf-tape-it to make it work. $6.95 each It's an option I'm considering for my chopped 700's.

Thanks guys. That is very helpful. So here is my thinking now . . . A Shure A27M in an Audio-Technica AT8458 mount (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/352400-REG/Audio_Technica_AT8458_AT8458_Microphone_Shock_Mount.html) with one of the two suggestions above for the mics. I will try them both at those great prices. Does anyone see any problems with this setup? I am a bit concerned about the shock mount interfering with the mics, but I hope switching the mic placement to the ends of the A27M will overcome that. But I am primarily concerned with the weight of the A27M in that mount.

I ran the chopped 700's for a few years and this was the best I could come up with. I used the Audix Micro MC mounts with some o-rings for support. The Audix mounts, as you know, are a little small (for ~12mm mics) but they will (can) work. I will admit that I snapped one or two Audix mounts on the clamping part, which is why I started using the o-rings. However, I was able to use the snapped/broken mounts successfully because it gave more room in the C-clamp for the mic. A little filing underneath the C-clamp of the mount on either side of the stem allowed for small "valleys" for the o-rings to sit in. The mounts were attached to a vark bar, which you can then shockmount with the lower delrin bar. To minimize size (not shown in the pic below), I shoved the vark bar through a Superlux mount (http://www.micsdirect.com/hm32pic1.jpg) with a few extra o-rings on the side it stayed snug and tight.
Here's a pic (without the Superlux mount mentioned):

Here's a pic with the Superlux mount:

You could also use the ever-so-popular DIY PVC option. With a few tools you can easily fashion up a fixed length/angle bar like the picture below, although I preferred the methods above.

auBall,
Nice pics and great setup. Thanks for helping me with it. I think that is a great solution. I am way too worried about weight with the A27M.

OK in that case I would use them with a normal stereo bar and attach it to a Rycote portable recorder mount.
This way you can do both mics with a single shockmount.

Nice, John. Thanks for the heads up on that option. That looks nice as well. I am going to look into that today.

auBall,
Nice pics and great setup. Thanks for helping me with it. I think that is a great solution. I am way too worried about weight with the A27M.
audball's setup in pic #1 is pretty much what I used. I added a a20s knock off for the shock portion. I had my chopped 700's for years and this setup was the only solution I could come up with. The Audix Micro's also leave room for wind screens.

Yeah. That is what I thought. It sounded pretty much the same. It is a very affordable yet solid setup. Thanks again for your help.
