This thing sounds really interesting. Curious to know if anyone has any experience with their products. The breakout snake is $75 and sold separately, but still gets you 16 channels for under $500. Pretty amazing.
Record up to 16 channels simultaneously
WiFi enabled
16 GB SD card + USB & ethernet port
24/96 audio in .WAV or .MP3
Connect Cable/Breakout Cable port
8 built-in mono inputs
Headphone/Aux out

Kind of interesting - but there are plenty of 16+ channel USB interfaces at the 250 dollar price point...the big difference here is this has a recorder built in.
Limited inputs and connectivity compared to USB interface...and assumes everyone has free inserts.
If you have the kind of access to the PA that this would require - why not just use an USB interface and a computer/tablet?
Looks more like something the band or sound guy would have to commit to using full time - and not something a taper could just show up with.

Wow, I didn't know that. I've definitely been out of the loop for a while on multitrack recording. Any recommendations?

I'm a fan of the Tascam US-1800. 8 mic preamps, 2 variable level line/instrument inputs, 4 line in, and 2 spdif channels.
Paired with a Presonus Firepod for the line inputs, and my Roland UA-5 for SPDIF inputs gives me 16 channels of preamp in 3 rack units.
Best thing is that the US-1800 can be had for under $250

Guess they finally released it. It's been "just one or two more months, we promise!" for over a year now. I guess you can't adjust levels, or even see levels on it. Original literature said there would be six mono trs inputs, and then two stereo trs inputs, for a total of ten channels. For the website now, looks like they're just down to the eight.
Size is nice, but functionality is so limited. While it's a bit bigger, smidge more expensive, and requires a usb hard drive, I'll stick with my LR16 for these multitrack adventures.
