Post by: emalvido on August 10, 2014, 09:23:40 PM
Hello, someone knows if a a Tascam DA-40 can handle 90M DDS tapes? I mean, not eating, breaking, them? etc?
Purpose if for transfering some of these to other media/archiving HDD, DVD
thanks ::)

I don't have a da-40 but I have never had issues with 90m tapes in any full sized deck I have owned

Sony pcm-d500, d700, 7040, dtc-a8
Fostex d-5
Panasonic SV-3800/4100

I knew someone who ran 120m tapes in their DA-45hr to run 24bit and didn't run into any issues either

Agree.  DDS-90 tapes were never an issue with my Tascam DA-20 nor a Fostex D5 when I owned both back in the 90's.  My TCD-D7 wasn't a big fan but I did record on them a handful of times (when I was at shows that were gonna run 3 hours).
