Post by: King Crimson on April 11, 2004, 12:11:48 PM
Taped a show last night and I go to transfer it, hook it up the same as I have done at least 15 times before (just transferred one last friday) and it doesnt work.  The rest of the sound is ok.  I restart but still, no dice.  Any suggestions  ???

What exactly is going wrong? I'm not getting a send of the problem from your description.

What playback deck and how is it connected to what?

No sound is being captured by CD WAVE from my Minidisc.  Connected via a 1/8'' > 1/8'' cable to my soundcard, tested it and it works.

There are so many variables it's hard to say what your doing wrong. It is likely routing in your PC. I have to assume you double checked the output and input. You definitly have music on the mini disk? Did you check that? Did you try routing different audio through your 1/8" input? What kind of soundcard do you have? A lot of soundcards have a "mixer" where you need to select where your audio is coming from and going to. Also in your software, did you check that CD Wave is looking in the right place for the audio?

What is different than the last 15 times?

There is music on the MD.  The only line in there is and the one I've been using is a microphone input.  Its an nvidia integrated audio card.  CD Wave cant be selected to record different inputs, though I tried another program and chose line in and again nothing.

If you've checked every variable (minidisk, mini disk 1/8" output, 1/8" cable, 1/8" soundcard input, possable soundcard routing, operating system audio routing, software rec input selection) I cannot help anymore. I am betting it is some internal routing on your PC. Try to figure out what is different than the times it worked. Have you tried another mini disk and had success?
