I bought a used Sonosax SX-M2 last Fall and have been having a weird problem with it lately. I use both Duracell and Energizer batteries and both seem to work fine, but twice now Ive run into the same problem. I put a brand new set of Duracells in on Friday night and about 40 minutes into the show, the low battery lights were blinking and the signal was dead. The exact same thing happened back in January except it died after about 20 minutes. Both times the batteries were brand new and straight out of the package. When it died on Friday, I put new batteries in and everything worked fine and I ran the pre for a good 2 hours+ non-stop. I bought both sets of batteries at the same time for Friday night, both Duracells.
Anyone have any idea what is going on here? I think it's time to invest in a new power supply for my Sonosax.

rechargeables ;)

Not much help, but...
FWIW, I've experienced a broad range of run-times on brand-spanking new alkaline batteries in all my field powerable devices. Frustrating! I'm about to pick up some 9v NiMH rechargables myself - much more reliable, IME. Still sorting exactly which one's to get, but likely something from thomasdistributing.com.

Ive actually got a set of Powerex rechargables from Thomas dist. In my tests they only ran for a little over 2 hours, and I ran 3 different tests. The rechargables are good for short sets, but for a full show I think that's pushing it.

Yeah,I was afraid of that. I won't mind switching batts at setbreak, so the rechargables still might work out for me. Still learning as my Lemosax is brand new!

Unless you are running stealth why not use external power? I went throught a bunch of 9volts running a MV100 at the first Bonnaroo.

i run a mv-100 and they are power hogs. i've pushed Duracells to almost 5hrs w/phantom. but on a pair of the lithiums, i got 13hrs w/phantom.
highly recommended!!

the lemo is real light on battery usage compared to the normal sonosax running phantom...you should be able to get 10+ hours out of a pair of regular akalines with that box IME
Nice! Great to know. Thanks, Boogie. +T

yup, brian, i got 17 hours on a pair of alkalines with your sax and mk41s.
