Title: Extension for Nano clamp?
Post by: carlbeck on January 09, 2015, 08:32:21 AM
I'm looking for an extension for a nano clamp so I can put a ball & socket or rapid adapter on the end. The 042 type extensions won't work like a normal super clamp in the Nano & I think a stud is too short for getting the stereo bar out from the clamp, any suggestions?

I have a mini clamp I use in situations where I need to use an extension pole and a super clamp or quick release clamp is too much for the job. It accepts a stud just like the super clamp and I am comfortable it is safe to bear the weight and lever pressure.

Those are slick but I'm wanting to use the nano to clamp to a mic stand vertically & have an extension coming out horizontally so I can attach another stereo bar if that makes sense? At the Pressroom we have a bathroom towel bar screwed into the beam horizontally & my Windtech clamp won't fit between the bar & the beam but a Nano will as does my K&M, I think the Nano with an extension would be better for supporting the 414's.

I'm trying to picture it. So would nano clamp > rapid adapter > extension arm get you what you need?

Yes it would, I was just hoping to not have the rapid adapter out of the nano to clamp the extension. If the extension had a stud to screw into the Nano instead of screwing the rapid adapter into the Nano then clamping to the extension it would save a little weight & be a lower profile.

In other words if the silver end of the extension was a spigot instead of a stud I could screw it into the nano or if the nano would accept the silver end like a super clamp would.

Ah yeah, right, without the RA... agree, this is getting a bit hefty for a nano clamp and then you're talking about LD mics. even without the rapid adapter I'm cringing a little.

The problem you have if you take the RA out and find something to screw in is you lose freedom to get the spigot pointing in the exact direction you want but I guess you can use an extra nut like the RA has.

I am confused. The nano clamp has two holes. You can screw that big (or small) brass top into that and then slip the rapid adapter over the brass... I do this with the c422 mount all the time...

Or am I missing something..? (And I apologize if my reading comprehension sux)

he wants to lose the rapid adapter and also get a little further away from the clamp

Bingo! I'm just surprised that they don't make a mini extension arm to work with the Nano.
