Has anyone ever have problems with the plastic cage of the B5-D scratching the nextel coating of the capsule. The cage is a snug fit and creates noticable wear on the coating. Scratch might not be the right term, but it definitely affects the texture and amount of light reflected. You can sort of rub the marks and they go away, but it will never look brand new again.
I like the B5Ds more than than regular B5s, but I'm really annoyed by this and am not going to use the plastic cage with any of my new capsules. Maybe my plastic cage is just slightly tighter than normal? It's been 2 years since I picked them up and it hasn't broken in over time.

Mine are tight too. Don't know why they make them so unnecessarily tight. I only use them indoors, or >:D outdoors in wind. Otherwise, it's BAS.

Yes - but my caps are not perfect so I don't care as much - I have only used them once in the field and didn't find this out until after I used them
I was thinking of sanding it down slightly to see if this helped

I've never encountered that, and as you know I run B5Ds almost exclusively and frequently.

I always wondered that myself. I have heard they're tight, but I don't want them messing up my housings anymore than necessary ;) I like using the Large DPA>Rode Dead Kittens combo right now, since there is no way that the DPA screens will scratch the capsule housings! I would eventually like to get a BBG for each capsule I have, but that's $600 just for the BBG, and another $600 for the windjammers :P So I'm going to use my Rode Dead Kittens this summer and then buy Rycote 5cm Classic Softies for all of my capsules later this year. I really dig the open cell foam + Fur cover combo for the money. I mean, even a Rode WS8 is an open cell foam/fur cover combo for $25. And my Rode Dead Kittens are only $25/each. MUCH cheaper than $95/each for the Softies! But [4] Softies will be around $400, so for another $200, I could get the BBG. I'm just concerned about weight with the BBG. Id most definitely need the Grey 82 shore Rycote Lyres for the INV6, or the INV7 to deal with the extra weight.
Sorry for the rant/highjack! But I've really been stressin my screens lately and want some input from you fine tapers ;D I mean, I don't hear any audible wind noise during music in my recordings with what I'm running now, but I definitely want something better than what I have at the moment!
