how do you tell which is the in/out on a 7pin cable? does it make a diference(what i mean, is are they only one way)? and if so, will i fry anything if i hook it up backwards(d8>audiophile 2496)?
thanks in advance, kirk

Try em! Yes, there are in and out and it does matter. Nope, you won't fry anything - you just won't get any signal flowin'.

male is probably in...
most 7pin>coax cables either use both males or both females...mine uses 1 each, but I modded mine.
the 7pin>coax ends are usually labeled as to which is in/out...

good call, I was trying to make sense of it, but it's a sony product, that's where I went wrong

thanks again, just got back from an unexpected trip.
just for the record--both ends are male and one wire has a dotted line. just wasn't sure which way it went.
