Title: how do you run your V2/V3 Vertically?
Post by: Spinman on April 20, 2004, 10:51:03 PM
I have both a V2 and a V3.  I also have a pelican 1520, and a sonic case deluxe.
In some situations, the 1520 is just too large, and the Sonic Case is much more useable/doable.  I transport my gear in the the 1520, and then transfer it into the Sonic Case.
Forgive me if this is an obvious question, but lately, I've been running the V2/V3 on top of my Sonic Case, as I'm not sure the best way to run it vertically.
I am worried that it's not protected, and it's rather difficult to see the lights when it's on top of the case...
The problem is that when I'm running out either Coax or AES/EBU, the wires and power connector are going to be "bent"  This is too much pressure, and I'm afraid it will ruin the cables, and possibly the connectors on the back of the V2/V3.
Are peepz using some sort of "Spacer" to elevate the gear, so that there is no strain in the back?
It seems doable...maybe even a box of some sort.. What do you guys suggest?
A couple of blocks of wood, in the bottom of the Sonic Case?
Thanks for your help.

try placing a layewr of foam in the bottom of the sonicase so the cables rest on that and also some protection from bumps

My bag came with U-shaped dividers...I just rest the V2 right on the bottom of the U and there's an inch or so clearance underneath. I also went with right-angle XLR's for most of the connections; eventually I'll go right-angle on the power cable too but not just yet.

Thanks Guys, I really do appreciate it.  I swear I did a search for "V3 box" and "Vertical V3" before I posted...  The info you posted is extremely informative, and confirms my fears about stressing the cables.
I'm still perusing the links you sent, Moke, but I just wanted to thank you all for the replies.
Peace,

+T's to everyone!!
