Hi, I'm considering buying a low-end PC to playback FLACs from E-Tree. Which is better output from a pc HDMI or Optical? My Pioneer receiver has both and it has a D>A converter. Lower cost options are all i can do for now. I'm using a mac mini for itunes using the display port out to HDMI and it sounds fine. Obviously not an audiofile here but still love the music tapers record. Thanks
HDMI can carry a greater variety of signals, ie Dolby TrueHD, etc... And that might appeal to you if you listen to more than just 16/44 Tapes...

Thanks Terry! I mainly just download the 24s when they are available, since I don't burn em to disc anymore. And thanks to all the tapers who upload.
Optical provides galvanic isolation hdmi does not unless you use an optical hdmi cable/adapter.
