But there might be easier options depending on your operating system (cat, sox, foobar2000, ...).

Foobar2000 is what I always use for this, and if you're on Windows it's the easiest way I've found to get the job done:
1. Load your files into Foobar
2. Select all
3. Right-click > Convert > ...
4. Select your Output Format (you can obviously keep the same format if you want)
5. Under Destination, select "Merge all tracks into one output file"
6. Go back and activate any additional processing or other options if needed, and then hit Convert.
The resulting file will be named "Image.wav" or whatever format you chose.

Thanks Voltronic!

AddaWav. Small, free and simple. That's all it does.

Import both audio files. Cut (CTRL+X) and paste (CTRL+V) second file to end of first
You can copy and paste as well to make sure it pastes correctly before you close the second file.

Just to clarify that - In Audacity - "Cut" - will copy the cut to the clipboard...as do many text and image editors...

Neat, never heard on that one. I'll check it out, thanks!

Thanks all!

I open the first file, then import the second. Then you can slide the second file (on the bottom) to the end point of the first ( you will see a marker for the correct location).
When you export Audacity will combine, I have never had an issue doing it this way.

I think...if you click the little clock icon first ("Sync Lock") - it will automatically put the second track in sync with the end of the first...
You'll still be looking at two tracksets...but takes the guess work out of aligning...
