On the topic of the Zoom F4/F8 (splitting subjects into two topics here).... In Curtis Judd's final review of the Zoom F4 he noted that the F4 manual has a section on the not yet released FRC-8. Apparently this will be a control panel with trim, fader and pan controls that connects to the F4 (and presumably F8) through USB.

Remains to be seen of course what the thing actually is and does, but from the description it sounds like a really interesting addition.

Well, it appears that there will be something that you can connect to your F4 (and probably your F8) since the firmware is there in the recorder. There is a rumor that the thing has been seen (possibly just a mock up) in Japan, by those who have signed a non-disclosure agreement. Everything else is pure speculation. Speculate on...

Interesting! Thanks for the pics.

That's very interesting. Wonder how they will price it and when they might release the product here. I still like knobs and faders compared to a touchscreen.
Edit:
Just checked around and you can pre-order one. B&H has them for $349.99. No indication of when they will be available though.

Too bad it doesn't include 8 analog outputs on the back of it, which is the sole remaining feature still missing from the F8 that keeps me from moving to it from my DR-680s (now that the input gains can be linked between channels, or whatever the Zoom terminology is for that feature, which was absent initially yet added later via a firmware update as I understand it).
