Hey guys,
What would be the best way to seperate an MP3 file into multiple MP3's without reencoding each file?
I managed to get a hold of some old, rare recordings of a band I love but the taper keeps them in single long mp3 files. The quality is already fairly compressed so I'd rather not further degrade the recordings.
Cheers
You can use an MPEG cutter like MPEG-schnitte or some others.
Audition also deals with MP3 so you can track them out in it...
mp3directcut
It works with aac codec too.
^ seconded for mp3directcut (it's free!)
mp3DirectCut

I use it all the time.
Super easy too:
Just drag your mp3 into the program and click the lower left button "Cut/Cue" on your split points then go to *File* and "Save Spit" and it outputs all of your tracks in order. I can't remember but I think I may have originally set the preferences so that the naming convention had the track number at the beginning as well.
