Title: On-stage/table stand recs?
Post by: greenone on May 03, 2004, 12:29:36 PM
Just curious what folks use for on-stage or table-top stands where there's no stage lip to clamp to. Basically looking for something small and light with a 5/8" thread on the top and a fairly small footprint; it doesn't have to be tremendously stable though rubber feet would be nice...

for table tops i use a regular old kick drum mic stand that can be had at any music store like guitar center.

for onstage i use a normal mic stand(not boom) with the round metal bottom. small footprint and perfect height for onstage. can also be had at any old music store.

no threads on top, but I have a clamp...

Moke, that's perfect! Just what I'm looking for. I have a Shure vert bar already so I need very little extra height. Thanks!

Noice. Wonder what the purpose of that nub is? Seems useless. Looks like K&M also makes a black one, the 23100B, that doesn't have the nub on it, but it's a little bigger. Probably go with the nickel finish, though...and maybe get a C-clamp when I order if the Rowi I'm getting in doesn't work out...

Nick, any model # info, and how small does that fold down? I assume the legs fold in? My bag is a foot across on the inside - anything I can get to fit in there would do the trick...

the legs fold in, it is probaboy 10" long when folded up, made of aluminum, really light...I will get accurate measurements and post tonight

Thanks Moke! I'm definitely leaning toward the K&M stand - rubber feet, looks damn light, probably won't scratch anything up in the bag, very low-pro. Can you lock the legs in a halfway-up position (make it "stand up" a bit more), or is it an either open or closed thing?

EDIT: One more q - what T-bar do you guys use with these? I've got some SDs so I'm not too too concerned about the weight. Moke, you mentioned it was unstable with a vert bar, but do you run the ADK's on it? I might just pick up an AKG or a K&M bar at some point for clamping purposes - the vert bar may be too heavy for clamping onto anything - but I'd like to keep it for use with my stand and possibly this one...

Thanks to all!

Sounds good. For $13 it's definitely worth a shot - I don't see myself using this in a situation where I wouldn't be right next to the stand protecting it...

Actually didn't end up buying one after all this, but if you Google the model number there are a few places that sell them, I'm pretty sure...
