Title: Microphones Madness
Post by: inc4 on May 04, 2004, 04:01:23 PM
Hi

What do you think about microphone madness mics ?
does anybody have a pair of microphone madness ?
http://www.microphonemadness.com/

I want to change my mic (marantz EM-8) for a pair of microphone madness but I hesitate between omni & cardioids...
I am picking between the MM-BSM-2 and MM-MCSM-8 mics (with battery box)

thanks

omg, too funny.  Sound Pro knockoff company trying to undersell them with sennheiser branded mics.

Not too many people here use sennheiser mics (not sure why) but for mics that size a lot of people use modified Audio Technica mics distributed by Sound professionals.com

Not saying that the MM mics aren't as good, but I have never heard of them before whereas the SP mics are tried and true.

With that said, I prefer cardiods for most live recording situations, but an array for capsules is always nice.  I wonder if these are interchangable.

It looked like their low end was linkowitz mod'd panasonics?  Which, btw for a low end omni don't do bad, but no need to pay over $100 for em...  If you are going to do that, wait for a deal on AT853's...  I might have a few sets here in a bit to sell if my deal on em works out...

lol, my associate let me in on the joke, cute name.

That's great mike, if you give people a great deal on the great deal you got.  These mics rock and more stealthers need em.

It might get really good, I asked if they had the inline xformers and I got a nod back from the seller.  Hopefully the other guy that got the first lot will still be interested in selling...

Ideally I would like to keep 2 sets I think, one with cards, the other with hypers, and that way I wouldn't have to mess with swapping caps...

Would like to see someone try to stealth with the white ones tho!  Maybe a chick in a white dress?  Dunno...   ;D

Hmm, nickspicks.com gave Microphone Madness Senns a pretty good review, and Frank at Cascade Media carries them in his store.  Can't be that bad, can they?   ::)

i know radiohead taper that uses the cards, his recording sounded nice.  however, i think i'd go for a set of AT's if i had to choose.

Thanks for your answers.
I know SP mics would be a good choice ( SP CMC-8...) but it's not the same price. 239 $ without clip and battery box... it's too much for me.

IMO, the MM mics are very overpriced for what they are.
they sound pretty good, but i'd take the 853 over them any day for the modular capabilities and overall sound for the investment.
