Folks, thanks for clickin!
I have my new DVD burner ready to go, new software too. Now I want to research DVDR media. I'm looking for longevity and cost effective. I'll be mostly backing up sessions and also FLACs.
Any tips, vendors, info to share?
Thanks alot!

Check out DVDRHelp (http://www.dvdrhelp.com)'s DVD Media section. I used it for anecdotal evidence on what DVD-Rs people are using successfully with my Pioneer 106D. I'm using Ritek G04s with fine results. No idea on longevity, though - haven't seen much in the way of longevity tests on DVDRs, period.
Lately, I buy my discs at AllMediaOutlet (http://www.allmediaoutlet.com).

Thanks Brian (again)

Also check out www.nomorecoasters.com for good info on DVD media.
You can't just trust the brand name on the package... you must determine the media code embedded in the discs themselves. I recently bought a 100 Stack of Ritek G04 blanks from www.supermediastore.com ... good prices and many times free shipping offers! Working on those now... so far all perfect results at 4X.
I've also used Ritek G03 's ... went through a stack of 50 and not one coaster. Would only burn at 2X though.
Of course, your mileage may vary, depending on your burner. Mine happens to be a NEC 2500A and I'm real happy with it so far.

all my experience has been just about any dvd-r you can buy at best buy is good to go in every dvd player and burner i've seen and even my xbox before and after it was modded. i usually check out www.salescircular.com for sales at the local stores. usually you can get them for $1 a piece in packs of 50 and 25.
