How would you go about taping with some LD mics?
damn venue rules
-
Does a monopod count as a stand? If allowed, problem solved. If not - handheld? Or a hat mount using one of those baseball hard-hats with the beer holders on either side?
Have you spoken with the venue manager or representative directly? Tried multiple people?
The Odeon here in CLE has a policy of dumping tapers in the deep back corner, but I finally talked 'em into letting me clamp to the front of the raised soundboard structure by finding the right guy to talk to (not the manager, btw).

I talked to the manager of the venue and she said after too many complaints about stands they banned everything.

I often find a calm, polite conversation when the venue is not busy works wonders. Find some middle ground, and then work with tapers you know to ensure they don't trod beyond the middle ground. Once the relationship is built back up, they'll no longer see tapers as a nuisance.
However, this takes time. I'd try the monopod. If you run head-height, there won't be anything for people to complain about: no blocked views, no footprint taking up space, etc.
Otherwise...borrom some SD mics and stick 'em in a hat.

I have some SP853s but one of the channels is out currently and I haven't had time to look at it
Thanks for the help +t

that beer hat could be ultimately workable as silly as it really is!
HRTF LD's
Yeah, where's that photo of Jason B's old "LD stealth hat"? I just about sprayed the monitor laughing at that one. ;D
I like the monopod idea...or if they don't like clamps because of damage to poles/rails, bring a washcloth or some rubber washers/gaskets to put inside the clamp so there's no mark left behind...

THis for Mraz on Friday?
-
yep
-
dont count of Mraz's management to help you either....George tried to get permission to tape openly at cityfest and they didnt even bother to read the email, just cut and pasted their normal policy....
-
I have already been in contact with his management and they said I can tape but with whatever rules the venue has is what they use. I think I will call my contact at his management again and see if I can get a special pass or something
-
hmmm, you might be on to something moke
-
I have told venues I am with the band many times. Once I am in the venue I go over and talk to the soundguy you have to play the part. After a while you will be with the band anyway
-
well I called the management and the venue again to see if anything could get worked out and it can't. Mraz's management screwed up this show with lack of communication, the venue already knows where I am sitting so they will be watching me. Jason is playing a pre show at some park so I will be bringing the full rig for that and talking to the crew to see if they can help me out for the night.
also got the sp at853s working so I can run that if I have to
+t for everyones help
-
+T for all the effort!
