how to use wavlab 4. I can't even figure out how to play, record, anything. Have looked through the help stuff and it hasn't helped at all. any pointers.

click the red circle button on the toolbar, it will bring up the record dialog.
you have to open a file to play it, go to file > open.
once you get that far, let us know what questions you still have.

ok. I should have said....I know you have to open a file to play it. but I see no play option. If I high light I can right click and play. is that the only way?

I see no red button. when I go to new to open a new window there is a purple one beside the minamize thing. clicking on it does nothing.

go to view > control bars > transport. if it is already checked, then you should have that toolbar present on your page. if not, check it, and you'll see the controls for play, rec, etc.

thanks y'all. already transfered and resampled a show in wavelab since last night.

yeah, i thought i was fucked too. nowhere on the default toolbars does it tell you that you press the * key on the keypad to bring up the record dialog. way to go, steinberg! ;)

that program is so unbelievably overrated.
It couldn't be any less intuative if they tried. For user friendliness just about every other program on the market is leaps and bounds better.
-
yeah, but for speed of processing, wavelab is light years faster than the other crap that's out there.

ditto. my preferred recording software. but i would rather use winamp ( 2.81 ) to playback. plays all my 24 bit stuff, wavs, flacs, and apes, as well as 16 bit wavs and shns/flacs.
