thanks to the help last night I transfered a show using wavlab. ok when I go to resample. process>convert sample rate. it does it's thing and with like a min or two left I get an error saying
warning can not write files bigger than 2gb.
it then stops and the file is still 48.
the file I'm working with is 1.24gb.

thank dmonterisi for this
go to options>preferences>file
change from 32 bit temp files to 16 bit temp files or if you are doing 24 bit do that.
-
haha, thanks damon, been having that problem lately too

It's better to split the file and work the 2 pieces. You can put them together later if you want. That way you take advantage of 32 bit temp resolution - you really don't want the temp work taking place in 16 bit.
-
what about 24-bit, thats where mine was set at??
-
better than 16...not as good as 32 I guess :P
24 is much more resolution than 16 anyways.

i have done some research on this awhile back, but i forget how it actually gets a 16bit file, and edits it at 32bit, i know once you do all of your editing at higher resoolution, and downsample it has more resolution overall and all that jazz, but how can it go from 16>32>16

Cut the wave in half, then downsample. Then piece it together to burn the file. If you use a temp file at a lower sample your likely to lose some bit accuracy in all the re-sampling. What is happening is that your file is open, and the other opens right on top of it creating a huge file using the existing file space. Just break it at a track marker, then burn in it with the basic audio CD and place all the tracks where they would go using the two files w/track markers.
Hope that helps...
