so at stella blue the aud tapes from back at the board always have way too much crowd etc. and seting up in the sweet spot is a bitch if it's a crowded show. I can run stage lip there anytime really but it doesn't work well for all bands. I know the owners and all the folks that work there and was told that hanging the mics in the sweet spot would not be a problem. the sweet spot there would be aboout 10 feet back or. I was thinking cards ortf. before I can do this I'm gonna need some long ass xlrs. they may have some there I can use but not sure. mine are 15 feet. is there a way to connect other xlr's to them? kinda like a barrel or something? I'm sure there is just never really looked into it before. any thoughts, tips.....
damn I'm moving slow this morning. didn't even think about just connecting the xlrs.

nope got my 480's
if you are using just normal thick xlrs you want to wrap those around a beam once to lessen the drag... the idea is that the less weight you have pulling on that xlr the better.

thanks! I kind of figured that. should be fun. hayseed dixie on the 5th will be my first time trying it.
Gordon-
I've been thinking about that idea forever..even discussed it briefly w/Joe a loooong time ago...glad to see someone finally get the motivation to make it happen!
Are you going to permanently mount a 5/8" thread hanging from the ceiling, or are you just doing something temporary?

Gordon- I just finished putting together a setup like this down here at the Palm Room. Just waiting on a band to try it out. I'll see if I can borrow a digital camera so you can see some pics. Basically i just hung a piece of black pvc pipe from the ceiling and I can clamp on. I screwed some clips into the ceiling to run extra mic cables back to the board area. I just leave these mic cables there so it's a quick setup. as soon as I get a mixer, i should be able to run some matrixes.
+t guys

not really sure yet. gonna mess around with it and see what works. do you still have xlr's?? I think I'm gonna get some 30 or 40 foot ones custom made for a good price. I have 15 foot now so that would give me 45 or 55 feet to work with. if it's not long enough to make it back to the board I could run them to stage left or to one of the small tables on the side.

I have the big AT shock mounts and a vert bar so untill I get a clamp I'll just tie something to the mounts. good idea on the pvc pipe. I need to get a clamp.

If you are going to go thru the effort of mounting something,..... go to home depot, and get a 1/2" plumbing flange and some 1/2" galvanized pipe. PVC will break really easy in more than one direction.
Hang a clamp bar and become a legacy, install one that lasts!
Thats one hell of and idea Moke!!!!
many +T's for that
