Title: DAT tape question, tapes at Tiger Direct $1 each
Post by: twatts (pants are so over-rated...) on May 24, 2004, 09:22:03 AM
So a buddy called from Tiger Direct in Raleigh, NC yesterday saying the had a whole $#!+load of DDS tapes in the $1 bargain bin and was wondering if I wanted any.  "Sure, why not, pick me up a handful", I said, not wanting to make a big purchase until I was sure of what they were.

Now I've got them in my hands and they are indeed "Sony 4mm 125meter DDS3 tape cartridges".

My question is:  these will work, right???  And did we just find a gold-mine?!?

Thanks,

Terry

Terry,

Sorry to burst your bubble- these will wreck havoc on your deck.  Your audio dat deck isn't meant to have that kind of tension on the heads, not to mention the tape on those is generally of a lower quality than we use with 60 or 90m tapes.

Sorry!

J

sell them on ebay, those are mainly used for backups of servers/computers
