Never used my laptop to record before, but the current situation with my D7 warrants a try.
I have a VAIO with SF 6.0 installed and have been using a UA-1D.
Can I patch out of someone using this setup?
Thanks in advance for your help. :yack:

The DAT's not the problem, it's the 7 pin. I am getting a new one soon, but was hoping to tape the Roots tonight.
Dre- thanks for the input. What do I need to get a signal (please don't say 7pin)?
What type of battery life can I expect to get out a factory installed battery?
Thanks again

I didn't think that the roots allowed taping?

benny, you can patch digitally with your laptop and the ua-1d, though you won't be getting a bit-perfect signal. as for battery life, coming from someone with experience running a full-sized vaio, you're not going to make it through the whole show. if your laptop uses the same sized batteries as mine (BP1N or BP71A) you can borrow my spares...my laptop has the ability to remove the floppy and use that bay for a second battery.
additionally...there are a few settings you'll want to change (power management being the first and foremost) so you don't run into problems while recording or shutting the lid causing your system to power off.
if you want to borrow my 7-pin, you're welcome to it. in fact, you can use the core-sound 7-pin i have pretty much indefinitely, until i need to sell it to buy crack. also, you can use my m1 tonight if you want. i'd really like to see that show but cannot afford a ticket right now.

The btat website says they allow
Josh- What cable would I need to patch? I may have to hit you up for some loner gear, too much good music this week not to tape.

not to worry ben, i got ya covered.
honestly...i'd leave the laptop at home. just borrow my m1. i can come by this afternoon. aren't we gonna throw some disc anyways?
