My thoughts exactly. ;)

Yeah, and dirt cheap too...almost as cheap as my Superlux ones which are pretty darn cheap ;p
$7.50 each at B&H:

I didn't want to upgrade to something bigger so these are maybe one solution that would be smaller and not as costly as the expensive shure ones. I dunno...I may be a guinea pig.
So how does one go about testing shockmounts and comparing one to another? Need some sort of constant banging mechnism ;p
-
I may pick one of these up to make a custom mount for my Audix mics. I was gonna get the Shure, but at $7, this seems like a worthwhile experiment.

I have a pair of these, they're awesome. Super lo-pro and snug fit. They're made of plastic/rubber and the shock absorption comes from the oval rubber band. Not sure how they match up in absorption compared to others, but I've never noticed any adverse noise. My Josephson mics actually came with a pair of these so that may tell you something (might not). I had a pair of the small Shure shock mounts (A53M) and didn't care for them, my mics didn't fit in them snug enough, there was too much play in the "donut" portion of the mount (too soft for my liking) and I had trouble keeping them straight in the mount no matter how well I looped my mic cables.
can ya tell i've been thru the shock mount ringer? ;D
YMMV
peace
-
Yup, I'm going to give these a try since they're about 1/5 of the price of the Shure a53m. They'll get a good workout next week with the Mraz NW run.
Glad to hear the Josephsons fit well with them! ;D
-
Hey dude, I didn't realize that was you writing, yeah man, your C42's will fit great in there. It's a tight fit but don't worry...I asked David Josephson if it was normal to fit that tight and he said yes. I was also worried about marking the mics but he said no worries, you can't hurt 'em, just pinch the mount open a bit and slide them in (xlr end first).
Good luck with them and let me know how it goes!

+t for Team Josephson! ;)

+T, back atcha brother! 8)

I'd love to. Where, when & how much? Not sure about my $$ situation with Mraz (x3) next week and Vegas the week after. I'll figure out the $$ and let you know.

Yeah, I think they'd fit pretty well. I ran these shocks with Oktava MC012s and they were great for the price. I will say that I switched to Shure mounts and won't be using anything else.

i LOVE my heavy duty AT 8415's w/ the heavy duty k-tek rubber mounts! well worth the ching IMO since they are ROCK solid and idiot-proof!
-
Bean - after having my latest mic mounts break on me after falling 2 feet I'm starting to miss those things. ;D

Yes Wil,l they'll fit them with no issues. I used these mounts with my old 568s. Did a great job handling the seat falling back at the Beacon Theater. Those theater seats can create alot of vibration.
These shocks are the best bang for the buck for SDs.

You want the Windtech SP-20. I bought mine from B&H Photo. $7.50 a piece plus shipping. Here's a link:
