Is it more common to run this off or in the lowest setting? Interested in hearing thoughts...maybe a good thing with LD mics...dunno
I don't ever use the low cut unless my mics are getting overwhelmed by being really close to subwoofers and even then I like to roll off the bass in post if need be.
To use or not to use the HPF should be decided by your ears, the situation, what you want to get in the end...
When I record outdoors in windy weather, I use 40Hz or 80Hz sometimes.
If I'm only recording voice, I can use 200Hz.
In some situations, the HPF allows you to reduce the level of an unwanted low-frequency signal, thereby increasing the recording level for a useful signal without overloading.
Etc.
There is no universal answer.
