Title: weird UA-5 battery problem (dcell ha ha)
Post by: andrewkw on June 05, 2004, 12:29:41 PM
I'm using a Dcell battery pack with my UA-5 well attempting to anyway.  2, 4 battery sleds so 8 batteries in total = 1.5x8 = 12 volts.  It also seems to work with 7 batteries.

Anyway heres the problem I can't get it to pass a digital signal to my deck on the battery pack.  I've tried both a coax and optical 7pin and i get no levels, however i don't get the no input flashing on the deck.  I plug in the AC and i get levels just fine.

I was planning on using this at a show tonight and unless I can get house power it looks like I will have no choice but to go analog in to my deck which does work just fine.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening.  I guess this means a d cell battery with the ua5 just wont work.  I know I should be running the RC pack but one of the parts is not availible at radioshack canada apperently and I dont own a soldering gun.

this is so frustrating  ???

2 packs connected in series or paralel??  Sounds like maybe you're feeding it 6 volts and not 12.

to get 12 volts all the batteries need to be connected + to -.   This means you'll have to find a way to put the sleds in series with each other.

don't think it works off 6  volts.  Mine does run fine off 7.2 though

i rewired to have then running in series and now its running off 12 vots  ;D

so happy, i was going to have to lug my UPS from my pc to provide power lol.

as far as running on 6volts everything worked except for digital out (in too probably)
