Title: Sony PCM-M10 recording settings...
Post by: wppcproductions on June 05, 2024, 02:30:30 PM
Hi all. My brain is getting old .  I need help on  my Sony PCM-M10  recording settings.

I got a  arena gig coming up next week and I cant remember the input  switch settings on the back   of the  unit{ Mic sensitivity} and input settings in the recorders menu as of low filter cut, limiter settings should be  set to..

I do know how to set the recording file format , Mic  plugin power option to off and manual record level settings on back of recorder. .

The mike I'll be using is  my ole reliable  Sony ECM-MS907  which will be set to  wide pattern.

I've written the info down and now and  I cant find the notepad where I made the note from the last gig I did last year..

Thanks in advance and take care.

LOW sensitivity ALWAYS

Low cut OFF
Limiter OFF

Manual gain control

Tape the switches into those positions with gaffer tape :coolguy:

+1 on taping them down.

I prefer to leave the limiter on because it saves me from clipping on the rare occasions I set levels too high, and doesn't do anything when I set levels properly low. But in most situations it doesn't matter either way.

(And +1 to all the other recommendations, including the tape.)

Thank you all..

I usually run the volume levels around 3 or 4 as depends where i sit at the show. .The MS907 are great since they don't distort with loud music.

At a couple shows I was right next to the loudspeakers and the recording came out great''

On the other hand the  M10 built-in mics ,My Nikon camera and my smartphone don't like loud music as they get overloaded.

Never really understood why many thinks activating the limiter is a no-go. I too would rather have the limiter kick in than dealing w. clipping when I screw up my levels.
