Been a long time since I've shopped for new mics...I'm interested in a super simple setup, mics directly into a deity pr2 (or something similar).
I have familiarity with DPAs, and a pair of 4061's would be my go-to move...but probably looking for something cheaper (<$500 for a pair). So just trying to get a sense of what my options might be...

I've never had any problem running my AT943s into the DR-2d with PiP. Sorry, but I don't know for sure how much power it supplies.

^ Less than 5V, so if they work into DR2d, they should work into PR-2, maybe better. Yeah any of the miniature ATs (and the SoundProfessional rebrands of them)
Any miniature DPA straight in.. meaning the directionals as well as the omnis, but that's out of budget except maybe used. Any regular sized DPA with the micro-dot output amplifier, but that's WAY out of budget. I'm curious about the small Neumann cardioid (KK14 I think) that some have modified to work with a 5V supply but that's probably also over budget.
The regular goto battery-box-powered small mics should all work: AudioTechnica, ChurchAudio, SoundPros, SonicStudios, Sennheiser, homebrewed Panasonic/Primo/Knowles capsules, etc, as well as small mics less common ones in the taper world, as long as they can be configured to work into a 2-wire input and operate correctly on 5V, which will be most of them. Hmm.. Sony, Shure, others I can't recall off-hand.

AT ES943 sound amazing for the size & weight
AT specs them at 11 - 52 vdc, but I'm sure that's on the Phantom Adapter side, not to the mics themselves.

Sennheiser makes a bunch of different lav type mics that can be adapted to TRS mini plugs and can be had affordably.
I bought a pair of the ME2 that were made for GoPro and hacked them out of the casing while they were on a fire sale for $20 each. They are omnis but they have a high frequency lift for speech intelligibility and sounded good for music.
High SPL at ~130dB on a few of the models.
It's not an out of the box solution but if you can solder you could terminate a pair to a mini plug fairly easily.

DPA 4063 is a version of the 4061 (? I think) redesigned to work on 3V only.

I have 2 of those ME2 that were made for GoPro, still in the original box, never had the time or nerv to do the hack...I will let them go for cheap....
