This is my fathers old Tandberg 6X Series Reel to Reel...it has surprisingly good sound...it is a pure joy to listen to those old tapes  :)

Norway should be proud of this fine piece of art :-)

I had a Tandburg Reel to Reel, used it quite a bit in the 70's and '80s, had it overhauled twice before it was too far gone due to wear, built like a tank. Was fortunate enough to come across a Pioneer RT 701 3 head, 3 motor rack mount to replace it. Good luck with sale, preamps in the Tandburg were quite good as I remember. does this unit have the phono pre-amp in it? bob

Great to hear that. No, this one does not have the phono pre-amp.

This is awesome that
1) it belonged to your father and now you have it and
2) that it still works - this has to be 50 years old by now

Very cool. Still sad I let my dad's Teac R2R go many years ago when it needed work and I didn't have a place to keep it.  Had a lot of fun using that thing late 70's through early 80's.

Yes, you are right...it is almost like new...perhaps not in mint condition but quite close to it  :)

I know the feeling...if I want to keep all technical stuff that I collected over the years...then we really need to move to something bigger...otherwise I am afraid that I will lose 50% of it. My wife is not too keen on my stuff and gear, but perhaps my son will find some of the stuff useful when he grows up (!) :)

Nice. My dad gave me his Sony TC-640 reel to reel and a few tapes. Mostly classical stuff, but also a copy of Let It Be.

It plays a hair slow which is a bummer, but it's still fun to break out a reel every once in a while. Also it's a great conversation starter when people see it.

Bought a reel to reel tape recorder at a rummage sale for .25 cents. Was not sure it worked. Got home and plugged it in and it worked. This was not a very high end model.

What I would do is hit record and put it on pause and I could play my harmonica into it with a microphone and it would come out through the speaker. Could even record myself though only had one reel to reel tape. So would put on a Jr Wells|paul butterfield|etc album and play harp through the reel to reel tape deck. Was like 12 or 13 years old. Used the Tape recorder for about 2 years this way. Guess I got the taping bug early in life...LOL!
