Hello,
I own the iq6 and use it with my iPhone 8 and got some fine rock concerts recordings over the years.
I am interested in the Tascam DR05X, could you tell me if it is a better product than the iq6 and if I should hear some better results or if it ll be similar.
I heard good things on the tascam. I don’t want any other brand and I want to keep it simple, small and discreet.
Thanks

Although I have not made comparisons between the two devices, I am fairly certain it will be a sideways move - as in no improvement worth talking about.
If you are dissatisfied with what you currently have, it is probably a good idea to put words on what improvements you hope to experience, and let that guide you towards better equipment or technique.

I am not dissatisfied, I just think I could get a cleaner, less bassy sound, more open and bright sound. I listen a lot of bootlegs (essentially Cure ones) and there are excellent ones so I am looking to upgrade while staying discreet, small, simple.
Any ideas ?

It seems you'd be more happy by using better (hence external) mics. Getting cardioid mics iso the built-in omni's could help getting a cleaner sound. At least the Tascam DR05X has an input for external mics, so that could be an upgrade path for you. What matters more than the recorder itself are the mics, the acoustics of the venue and finding the right spot to record.
