Title: minor emergency
Post by: highwayjill on June 15, 2004, 11:26:26 PM
it looks like my windscreens arent going to get here before i leave for wakarusa thurs. morning...  Would it be possible to make some ghetto windscreens from some common (or not so common, but i could still buy it at walmart) household object?  If it rains all weekend, then it wont really matter anyway.... i'm not ready to risk ruining my rig just yet ;)   I mean i broke my 7 pin cable the first time i taped... i cant imagine what would happen when combining my rig and rain ;)  Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated

the ol' dirty sock trick usually works in a pinch!
other than that, maybe check at your local guitar center or music shop.

You could definitely get some pop screens at GC, but you probably wont be able to find anything all that great in time.

I'd simply run without screens then.

Do you have a Radioshack? You could use some screens from there that are for vocal mics....

did i mention that i live in a small town.. my radio shack doesnt have anything (every time i've gone in needing something, they told me that they could "special order" it for me and i could have it in a week or so)... though its the first stop i'll make tomorrow on my quest to find somethign that i can use (the other is a tiny guitar shop thats hardly ever open)... i'm looking for suggestions on what to use if neither one of those has anything i can use... would a big square chunk of foam from a craft store work?

Cindy- If I don't get those screens in the mail today and can't let you borrow my old ones, definitly hit the music stores in Lawrence, specifically Mass Street Music. They are bound to carry some nice screens with the selection they have. I'll let you know as soon as the mail comes if I got my new ones.

well, a trip to radio shack took care of everything... the only 2 windscreens they had in the store just happened to be the right size.  And i picked up 2 more r/c batteries/chargers for only 25.00 (they're 1/2 price this month if anyone needs more/new batteries).... now i just need an umbrella

Hit a Wal Mart and get one of the "chair brellas" they're like 5 bucks and have a clamp on them.

Anybody have any pics of the Moke DeadRat screens?

He also recommended to me to get some faux fur and sew it up.  Sounds like a really fun project and I've been looking for the gaudiest, tackiest, dare I say LOUDEST :o :-X faux fur every time to go to Reno (I live in a limited small town also)

Thanks!
