I've recently acquired a SP-SPSB-4 Battery to use alongside my Sony PCM-A10 and SP-CMC-2's (AT831's) and whilst testing on the MIC IN function of my recorder, with levels at 18, I have noticed a metronome/heartbeat sound in the background of my recordings.
Does anybody know how to stop this from happening please?
Any help is much appreciated

Turn OFF - NFC in the a10 menu.
That is the cause of it.

Thank you :)

This is interesting. I've also got an SP-SPSB-4, PCM-A10, and SP-CMC-2 mics and have never noticed such a sound. I just checked and NFC was on, I just turned it off because I'm almost positive I don't need it turned on. Can you post a short audio example, please?
EDIT: Wait, after re-reading, why are you using MIC-IN and not LINE-IN with the battery box?

Just guessing, but probably a combination of not enough plug-in power from the recorder coupled with low-sensitivity mics and/or a low SPL source. I often record with a battery box into the mic input for quieter music, albeit with different gear.
