Title: Questions on settings for the Tascam Portacapture X8
Post by: Space Cowboy on November 23, 2025, 02:54:34 PM
I'm using the 1/8 line-in for transferring cassettes. When the files are completed I see that it saves the files in a "MIX" as well as a bunch of "bin" files. Can I somehow set this not to save a MIX file or the bin files?  The bin files are very small, just annoying, but saving the extra MIX file really eats up some space on the microSD card.

Yes.  Upgrade to the new firmware.

It's called the mixdown function.  You will see the left and right channels up at the top encircled by red on the left when it is on.  You want to disable that.  It's in the hamburger menu under the mixer on manual mode.

You should also just be able to tap the red box to turn it off.

Thank you!  I will give this a try!!  :)

UPDATE:  That was what I needed!  Thank you, VibrationOfLife, for helping me.
