So I started using a new rig, with a Zoom M4 MicTrack as the recorder. Turns out, until it had the latest firmware update, it recorded each channel to a separate file. (I have since updated the firmware.) Now I'm trying to combine them in Audition 2026. I started a new multitrack session, and put one file in track 1, and the other in track 2. Now what?
Also, it was recorded in 32-bit float at 44.1kHz. Do I need to reduce the bit depth too? In the past I recorded to 44.1/16 bit.

Actually, I think I figured it out. Multi-tracking probably was over-complicating it. I started a new audio file, then copied and pasted each track into it, with the non-active track (side, essentially) turned off. When pasting the first one, it pastes to both right and left, but when you past the second one, it only pastes over that side.
What I did was turn off the right channel, then paste track 2 (from the right mic) into the left channel. I then turned that off, and pasted track 1 (the left mic) into the right channel. That seems to have done the trick. (mics were in XY configuration, hence the side change)

Not sure specifically in audition, but if you're working with 2 mono files, most DAWs will let you drop them both into a stereo track. Worst case you just have 2 mono tracks and pan them hard left and right
