Title: Zoom H2 + Recording Gap at 2 GB
Post by: Belexes on April 11, 2026, 07:39:22 AM
A friend messaged me and said he became aware of a potential issue with the Zoom H2 where when recording 24 bit and reaching the 2 GB maximum, there is an 18 second gap in the recording while it starts a second file. Is this a Zoom H2 issue or is this specific to the memory card that is utilized? How is this remedied?

I have a Zoom H4, so wondering about it vs the H2 if this is a deck issue and not a memory card issue.

If there is an old thread on this issue, please point the way as my search skills aren't what they use to be. Thanks!

In case you haven't found an answer yet, I'll reply two+ months later and tell you this once happened to me. There's an easy solution: just update the firmware. Never had any issues after the update.

I don't recall this ever happening with my original Zoom H2 which I got in 2007. I probably updated firmware as soon as it became available, I don't remember about that though.

I bought my H2 in 2008 and had the gap problem in 2009, the first time I exceeded a 2GB file size. I still weep for those missing seconds.
