Title: So i'm taping Primus this Tuesday....
Post by: George on June 19, 2004, 11:05:52 PM
...at radio city and i have Orch, Row M, dead center seats, iirc, and i wont bother lugging my mic stand at that place.  How should i configure my hyper cards (943's) onto a baseball cap?   I also have a pair of at853's with hyper, cards and omni's...think i should try the cards out?  I haven't used the modded 853's yet and am dying too...damnit, i've never tried the omni's ever!  Maybe i should get another pair of samson adapters so i can run two rigs so i can do a comparison between my nomad and M1v for shits and giggles.  I have enough gear to do so (mv100, ps2)    :-X

You could run them in the band in the hat on the sides of your head. Or get some elastic and sew them in DIN config

More info here http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?board=3.0

I too still haven't tried my 853's w/ phantom power dammit!

that would be a ps=2 > mv100 > ??? vs. a mp-2? > ???

if you want to do a M1 vs. JB3 comp, just split the tape out signal.

Just wondering why you wouldn't bother with your stand?  I mean, if Primus allows it, why not save your neck?

I was reading over on the open forum and a taper was constantly nagged about the height of his stand, plus, i've been to radio city, beyond me where the hell we can set up a mic stand, unless they have sectioned off some space behind the soundboard.

Schwillaby , actually, i have a nomad and M1, wanted to run the ps2 with the nomad and the mv100 with the M1 so i can test two pairs of mics out, i'd really like to hear what omni's sound like.  However, if i can't, yeah i think i can run the nomad and M1 together via the mv100, one source via the line out and i assume the second source via the rca outs, right?

Marc, i'll see if someone will be willing to hook my mics up with their stand...i'll lug some xlr extension cable and the cheap little t-bar that came with the stand i bought for my at's.

Thanks for the comments guys  :D

Don't listen to me, all I was saying is that the mv-100 applies gain, so you want get as true of a comparison.  But I see you wanna compare caps, so go ahead and do it.

from what I have heard in the past, it is always hit or miss if radio city even lets stands in the venue...

Yeah - unless the band specifically stands up for you to bring it in, no stands. I got lucky (and happened to be the only one) last year, but it's best not to even bother.

How small is your stand??  I usually put the seat up and shove the stand down in the seat if there isn't really a place to set it up at.  Another idea is tape the stand to the arm rest of your chair.  Offer the person next to you a copy...they won't mind.   ;)

Good luck!

The stand is a bit too big and the venue is well...cramped.  There's no way i can see there being stands at the venue unless the band makes some space around the soundboard, which is highly doubtful.  As long as i dont get some freaking giant in front of me i imagine the recording will sound pretty good from where i'll be.  This is gonna be fun.... ;D
