I can buy a like-new Tascam DR-70D for a good price, and I’m looking for a solid recorder for two open taping gigs next week where I may also be able to grab a stereo board feed and record 4 channels total.
I’d also like to run my AK40 caps > NBOB cables > RiotBox into the 1/8" input.
Would that be possible on the DR-70D? Specifically, can it record the 3.5mm input alongside the 4 XLR inputs, or does the mini jack internally replace inputs 1/2?

It will record separate channels for 3/4.
Be careful of the SD card media. Depending on the firmware version, there were some issues with loss of data if not using an approved SD card.
Also, on my 60D, the input on 3/4 runs very hot so I need an attenuator if I am taking a board feed into 3/4.

on the 70d and 701d... the 1/8" EXT In will be recorded on Channels 1/2
from the reference manual page 20
EDIT: it gives you 3 choices for Input 1/2
the unit will NOT do more than 4 channels unless you count the Mix tracks

Thanks!
