Title: difficulty in formatting a San Disc micro SD card
Post by: Melanie on July 28, 2026, 10:51:01 AM
Someone sent a San Disc micro SD card for transfer, says micro HC on it, will not format in my computer, will not recognize when inserted into Tascam X8 which uses micro SD card. Says change card. My San Disc card that functions fine says Micro XC , not HC . Any thoughts? I spoke to sender, he will send a different card. Bob

HC is High Capacity, which is an older specification than XC (Extended Capacity)

HC cards are only made up to 64 GB in size, the XC can be up to 2 TB in storage.

So it's an older card. Good thing the sender can get you the data some other way.

I would not stress on it, but I also would be wary of using it for anything mission-critical, even if you can get it to format.
