Title: I help on what type of recorder and mic to buy
Post by: MaidenOnslaught on June 22, 2004, 09:28:01 PM
I have &150.00 for a budget.  Can someone direct me where to buy a recorder and mic??  I know it's not much, but I was hoping to get the best bang for my buck.

Thanks

$150.00 ...thats a tough one.  Maybe a used Audio Technica AT822 stereo mic....$350 new, maybe $100 used  and a used Mini Disc player.  Take a gander in the yard sale.   There are some great deals.
Maiden Fan?  there are some fellow fans on this board including myself.  I want to get some live aud. recordings of them some time.  Live After Death does fine for me now.

I'll put in my $.02 and say- just getr a deck and patch from some kind soul with good Mic's...any sound engineer will tell you that its all in the mics, and, unfortunately, you ain't gonna get much for $150! (Sorry for the cruel reality slap-in-the-face...)

Anyone else have an opinion?

save some money, get a dat or JB3, patch them look at a rig in the future.  its hard to only have the same amount as some festival tickets for a rig.  good luck to you.

Get a JB3 from Ebay right now for $155 shipped (Creative coupon ECJUN0420) and patch for now.  Get some mics when you can afford a decent set.
