I'm looking at another mass dat purchase, as I just used my last 60m, and the thought is definitely there in consideration of one of these new fangled thingies.

One of the deciding factors for me also....although i do like the idea of having an actual hard copy..
I will more than likely run both the D8 and JB3 for a looong time.

Cut it out, you're scaring off Moke.  :P

Just press and hold the power button for a second or two.  Tapping it won't turn it off...thankfully!

Moke, there are TONS of mac users on here who'd be willing to help with teaching you the art of drag and drop. ;D

How do I get it to the computer, and,... moreso,... how do I make the damn computer capture it?? (mac)
:mind meltdown:
Too much to learn,......

I love my stand alone burner! change ain't coming easy!

*zappa reference for the day

Moke, make sure you have access to a PC to load up the latest firmware.  You can't do that on a mac.

If you don't know anyone with a PC (lucky you) I'd be more than happy to do it for ya if you send it to me. ;)

Yes, it will.  It works only over USB, but it will work.  It's how I do all my transfers now.

Although you REALLY need to update OS X.

It works only over USB, but it will work.

How long do your USB transfers typically take? What software do you use?

*contemplating mac vs. linux box*

I dunno, what's the rate limit of USB?  I usually set it to transfer and then just do something else.  My guess is about 15-20 mins per gig.  It could be faster, I dunno.

USB 2.0 takes like 3 minutes per gig for me, maybe less

Yeah, firewire is even faster.  But the JB3 doesn't work with the mac over firewire.
