Ok, I searched the FAQ and the TS archives and didn't see this answer.

How do I get my JB3 to automatically load the 44.1wav setting when recording rather than the mp3?

The JB3 will automatically "default" to MP3. When you're setting up the recording, you need to  first "highlight" the MP3 setting and scroll down to WAV.

EDIT: I just re-read your question--you're looking for way to avoid doing the above? Like having to skip this step? To my knowledge you can't. Guess you're just gonna have to hold off on grabbing that beer for a few seconds more :P
