Title: CD player / DVD player / DVD recorder with built in HD questions
Post by: Humbug on June 28, 2004, 04:51:54 AM
OK, so my super sounding hi-fi separate Marantz CD63SE from around 1996 has finally bit the dust, after playing tens of thousands of CDs. At the moment it only likes Kodak Silver/Golds..and yes, I've tried cleaning the laser.

I was thinking of replacing my DVD player 'cos it wont play DVDRs

Few questions:

1. Should I get a DVD player to play my CDRs? Will I notice a drop in sound quality through using a non-audio only device?

2. Should I get one of those DVD recorders with built in Hard Drive (80GB is typical)? These run to about £600 ($1000) at the moment - maybe they'll come down in price over the next few months and I kind of fancy making my own DVDs occasionally.

Space is kind of at a premium in my house, so while I fancy a new pc with a built in TV card and DVD writer I'd never fit it in, or probably make it work (technodummy). I realise thats the future though (or is it??).

Thanks for listening to my ramble!

Perhaps I posted this in the wrong forum (or maybe people don't read my posts, dunno!)

Some of you must be Hi-Fi nuts, I need your help!

LOL! However if you heard the quality of the soundcard on my pc, you'd need a decent CD player too..
