just found some info. searching the board. it looks like lee used to run these mounts w/ his 480. is it a really snug fit? shure mounts are 18.75mm & 480's are 20mm?
-
i'd say it's snug
-
my MGs are in the 20mm range, and it was too tight a fit...but I know some people use them for the 480s and it works fine, so they are probably off by a fraction of a mm....
-
i think its too tight for my 480s. i bought a pair because they are much smaller than the at's but i had a heck of a time getting the mics in and out of them w/o destroying the little plastic donut.
maybe some lube would help :)

I've seen 480's in em in person but i don't think the guy ever took them out of the mounts.

Jeff used these and the only problem he had was running those heavy ass zaolla cables- they made the 480's point at the ceiling
-
Unless you plan on storing them in the shocks. I'd stay away from em.
I stored them in the shocks when I used them & loved it. But pulling them out after every run would be a pain IMO. & like Tad said, heavy zaollas suck with them. Normal cables work fine.
FWIW....... I still run them.
Lee, pulled his out everytime with no headaches.
