Title: configurations with hypers?
Post by: airbladder on July 05, 2004, 02:08:35 PM
I just got a pair of hypers and was wondering what kind of configurations work best..  Up until now I have used cards.  Do you point each mic just out side the stack?  Run them 20cm 60-100 degrees?  How is it different than cards?  Any help would be great.

Some people like hypers ~7" (17cm) @ 90* (DINa?)

I like them ~8"(20cm) @ 70-80* or XY @ 70-80*

I'd run 'em 17 cm at 90 deg (DINa) the 20cm spacing is for the cards and is suppose to get a hole if you use hyprs in the card setting...don't know cause I didn't try to make any image holes...  BUT to each their own...it's all a starting point and what your ears like.   check out the Oade site http://www.oade.com/Tapers_Section/faq-mic.html  may give you some more info.....

so how did you run your cards?

I'm not big on configurations with my hyper's in most venues -- except for PAS. (Point at Stack)

I run mine in DIN all the time.  Only exception is when I'm very far off center and I run pointed at the stack, but that is very rare.

Ever try them coincident....it has been said that LD's sound their best when run coincident...it's a little harder to align the cap over each other but is suppose to be more focused.   GIve it a try and let us know  ;)
